EDUCATION

After months of preparation, love and care came the 26th of November, our Annual Christmas Fair!  Thankfully we were blessed to have good weather which meant we could have our puppet show inside and the rest of the fair outdoors.

Children fossicked for crystals, made necklaces, played the fishing game, painted stockings and ribbons and visited the children’s treasure tent where they each chose a special handcrafted item made by a Periwinkle parent.

Flags filled the space, nachos sauce and coffee wafted through the air, delightful live music entered the ears, children played and wandered using their stone tokens as currency.

We had wonderful stallholders Susan Perrow and John with books and honey, Steffi with her gorgeous jewellery ,Claudia with beautiful handcrafted instruments and dolls and Sharon and Dave with their play stands, furniture, fairy wings and fairy doors.

Sandra Frain, Ineka Hanepen and Yasmin Vaknin enjoyed creating and performing a very special advent puppet show! The puppet shows were well attended with morning and afternoon sessions.  On stage we had performances by Claudia Ocean on flute, Cole Clayton on didge, Anna O’Donnell on violin as well as Periwinkle teacher Simon playing us some children’s songs.

Nachos, sushi, curry and ice blocks were thoroughly enjoyed as well as a table full of delicious cakes and snacks. Coconuts were very popular!

Our first year as a “Waste Wise Event” went extremely well, filling only 1.5 compost bins! Our wash station was well received and plates were washed, dried and reused. All other plates, cups and serviettes were biodegradable and composted. Our cakes were served on banana leaves.

Big thanks to everyone who pulled this day together!
